Knitting Group 1
Knitting study group #1 is informal, with no set agenda. It is guild members who like to knit, sharing ideas, being inspired and help explore solutions for knitting tangles. Show and tell provides inspiration for everyone. Once in a while we’ll have a guest give a special workshop. The group meets the last Wednesday of each month at Alice Takemoto’s in Kensington, MD, from 10-12. The group accepts members at the intermediate through advanced level of knitting.
Knitting Group 2
The Knit Explorers group is dedicated to exploring new and novel knitting techniques, learning new methods of familiar techniques, and expanding our repertoire of knitting skills. Each month a different technique is selected as a topic for discussion, with members incorporating these techniques into projects, creating samplers for discussion, or swatching together. We also bring current projects that demand new and different skills or are giving us trouble for discussion. As many of us are spinners, we often discuss spinning for knitting and for the project or technique being discussed. However, spinning is not a requirement–we are a knitting group, after all! As the group is informal, completing (or even beginning) a project with the technique being discussed is not a condition for attendance; the only prerequisite is an inquisitive mind. We meet the second Thursday of each month from 12:30 to 2:30 at Jocarol Robb’s home in Glover Park.
Knitters by Design
Knitters by Design is a new study group of experienced knitters, meeting at the FiberArt studio in Potomac the second Thursday of the month, 10:30 am. Our goal is to take our knitting experience to a new level: moving from following patterns to designing unique pieces; learning new techniques together; and supporting our creative endeavors. We work independently on our design concepts; at our meetings we help each other keep the creative process moving and usually do a little knitting. We are open to new members interested in this area.
