Extended-Workshop – Charlotte Sehmisch: Disc Hats

SKILL LEVEL:  Intermediate

Participants should have prior knowledge of wet felting.  Ability to independently create a shingled sample using wool roving, and techniques needed to wet-felt the sample into a finished piece.

In this three-day workshop participants will explore the creation of a disc using complex geometric objects in structural seamless felt. Templates for shapes such as cubes, oloids, tetrahedrons and pyramids will be covered.   Upon design completion around a resist – final cuts will result in a one-of-kind headpiece or sculptural piece.

All participants need to bring:

– soap, big towel
– a good pair of sissors
– edding or roll pen
– well felting wool in colors of your choice, either tops or batt (Merino, 500 gr or more)
– resist material (footfall sound insulation, 2 mm, one square yard or more)
– a big sheet of paper
– a vessel for water
– a ruler 20″
– a vessel for water
