10am – 4.00pm (set-up begins at 9.30)

Participants will design and create a small series of hand-stitched works using a selection of textile pieces (from Julie’s and other’s collection) as their “muses”.  Julie will cover some stitching techniques and provide interesting challenges to get the creative juices flowing!  Participants are encouraged to bring in textiles from their own collections for inspiration.

All participants need to bring:

Optional:  own piece of textile (not necessarily embroidered)

Notebook or journal for journaling/sketching

Pen/Pencils/Colored Pencils taking notes/drawing designs

Disappearing/washable pens/pencils (purple or light blue for light fabrics, white for dark fabrics)

Scissors – fabric and embroidery (small/sharp)

Glass head pins

Needle threader (if you need one)

Clear gridded plastic ruler (if you have one)

Optional: Rotary cutting tool, Self healing cutting mat, Task light, Magnifier

Assorted fabrics from your stash in solid or neutral colors including: 100% cotton, linen, silk, wool. Pieces don’t need to be large but should be at least 6″ square

DMC floss in assorted colors. Optional: other threads including perle cotton, silk, wool, yarns
