Fiber & Identity: The Maker’s Voice

Fiber & Identity: The Maker’s Voice is the an exhibition presented by the Potomac Fiber Arts Guild in partnership with the Workhouse Arts Center Lorton, Virginia as part of Handwork 2026. This exhibit invites the guild members to explore how fiber art reflects personal narrative, heritage, and creative perspective. Featuring works that range from traditional techniques to innovative contemporary forms, the exhibition celebrates the ways makers communicate who they are through their craft.

The exhibition will be on view from August 15 through October 17, 2026, offering visitors several weeks to experience this dynamic collection of work at the Workhouse Arts Center. On the final day of the exhibit, guests are invited to attend a special closing reception featuring fiber arts demonstrations, providing an opportunity to engage directly with makers and gain insight into the techniques and traditions behind the art. This culminating event celebrates both the exhibition and the vibrant community that makes fiber arts such a meaningful and evolving practice.
